Beautiful Balbriggan

The ‘Our Balbriggan Rejuvenation Plan 2019-2025’ is well underway throughout the town resulting in some major and long overdue changes within the town itself, particularly down around the Lighthouse and Harbour. In the 1960’s the roof of the Lighthouse was removed due to corrosion and in late 2018 it was finally replaced returning it back to it’s former, albeit updated, glorious self. On top of the new dome being fitted, in 2019 a massive cleanup of the Harbour began including the removal of old wreckages that were abandoned. More recently, youths from the area have engaged in painting and decorating the old containers that are down on the dock and they look amazing.

Over the next five years, €20 million is planned to be pumped into the rejuvenation of Balbriggan town and will also include a €10 million plan to build and develop a coastal greenway from Skerries to Balbriggan. I’m excited about the changes that are to come. There is so much to see in Balbriggan. I would highly recommend a day out this way via the train, some lunch in the Bracken Court Hotel or The Twisted Olive followed by photography down at the Harbour and Balbriggan Tower. In addition to the Harbour, Bremore Castle has been newly renovated and is a great subject for some Landscape shots with the Sea in the background. Happy snapping. xx
