The Kingdom
Last week we were fortunate enough to get away on our September #staycation2020 to Kerry and just in time before Dublin was moved to Level 3 Lockdown. We stayed in the beautiful Tower View B&B in Milltown, Dingle which is run by Helen and Aidan murphy along with their adorable daughter Chloe and their cute little guard dog Milo. We arrived on Wednesday and it was the first time that I have ever been to the Connor Pass and holy god….it is spectacular! It’s a different world up that way. Literally driving through the clouds only to appear out the other side into complete sunshine. No wonder they call it a little slice of heaven.
On our first night we ate in James Long Bar & Restaurant. The food and particularly the fish was so fresh and tasty. It was nice to have a few drinks with dinner, as this is the first time that I have had a night out since Lockdown in March. Plenty of Social distancing in the restaurant and staff were very attentive.
On day 2 we drove the Slea Head pass. It was insanely beautiful and we were blessed with the exceptional weather. We headed early to miss crowds and so we got to Dunquin Pier at about 10am. The views were clear and there weren’t that many people around which was brilliant. I don’t think I’ve ever taken as many photos of the one place before as I did here. I wanted every angle and view and it is just stunning! Poor Gareth. We travelled all around Dingle, Inch Castlegregory and surrounding areas on day 2. We left nothing out. The evening we were shattered so we went now to the Bay takeaway and grabbed a burger and chips.
Day 3 was all about Killarney and Torc Waterfall. We didnt get to go to Mollys Cottage as we left quite late and by the time we were on the road, the place was packed. The weather was too nice and sunny for me anyway, I was hoping to get some moody shots of the cottage - another excuse to return in the winter. We ate in the Boatyard that night in Dingle and I would highly recommend the Seafood Platter! nom nom.
There’s obviously so much more that we did and visited whilst in Dingle, however these were my highlights. I’m in love with Kerry and honestly cannot wait to return. It stole my heart. xx
